The French immigration policy. is there a Gap between theory and practice

Leonora Zoto

Abstract

France is a nation-state that respects the principles of equality and the  national French identity rejects the possibility of cultural diversity.

The most important characteristic of the French model of cultural diversity and immigration management is the cultural and religious tolerance attributed to the newcomers. If the French model is analyzed in theory it is really worth to be adopted from other countries. But the most important after so many years of immigration policy  is to see  how this theory was applied  in practice and what were the results. The purpose of this study is to analyze the performance of the immigration poliy of France, in practice in order to realize if there is a gap between the theory and the practice during the aplication of this model and  if there are any consequences for the French Democracy.

To carry out this analysis we will need to analyze a range of variables  that will count this model’s performance.

The results of the analysis consist in the ideas that the integration of immigrants into the French structure has been a two-way process between them and the French civil because those groups of people who are not able to adapt in the  French system remained isolated on the ghetto around cities creating an unhealthy environment for the whole French society.

Keywords:immigration, cultural diversity, religion, model of management, gap, consequences, the principles of republicanism.
